Fuels of the future and the introduction of new technologies onto the market will be the main topics of debate in the 2010 edition.

The efficient use of liquid and natural gas fuels in combination with hybrid technologies, electricity as the principle “fuel” for plug-in hybrids and other electric vehicles, and the environmental impact of different fuel options will be the main themes of the third International Advanced Mobility Forum (IAMF) which will be held within the framework of the Geneva International Motor Show from March 9-10, 2010.

FUEL STRATEGIES FOR THE VEHICLES OF THE FUTURE
Hughes Van Honacker, from the European Commission, will reveal the latest European research into the reduction of emissions from private vehicles, Bryan Wynne, President of the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA) will present an American vision of future transport options, and Robert Stuessi, President of the European Association for Battery, Hybrid and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (AVERE), will present the current situation regarding electric vehicles in Europe.

THE LASTEST METHODS OF PROPULSION IN MOTOR SPORTS
This third edition of the IAMF will be supported by the FIA President, Jean Todt, acting as Honorary President of the Forum. This will be an ideal opportunity to explore the new ideas being studied to power the racing cars of tomorrow. David Dyntar, from the ETHZ, will present several of his students’ projects from Formula Students. He will evaluate the concept of electric and hybrid cars from a technical point of view and considerations of cost. John Chatterton-Ross, from the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM), will emphasise the encouragement of using renewable energies in Motorcycle competitions.

STORAGE, RECHARGING, AND REFILLING
All the themes of the forum will gravitate towards the topic of new fuels. In line with the vision that in ten years 15 % of the cars being used in Switzerland will be electric, Philippe Mean, form the Alpiq, will explain what infrastructure needs to be developed to ensure that they can be recharged. Andrew Burke, from the University of California, will present the results of the latest simulations conducted with plug-in hybrids using lithium batteries and the latest generation of ultra capacitors.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES, THE INTRODUCTION OF THESE TECHOLOGIES TO THE MARKET, AND SECRUITY ALL HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE UTILISATION OF NEW FORMS OF PROPULSION - These are the key themes to be grappled with by the thirty-odd conference presenters from a variety of different fields at the third edition of the IAMF.

THE IMPACT OF ELECTRIC AND PLUG-IN VEHICLES ON THE MARKET
This will be the subject of a roundtable discussion moderated by Marco Piffaretti, CEO from Protoscar SA, which will take place from 4:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2010. From the business model to a marketing plan, including concrete and practical examples, six specialists will contribute their efforts to help develop a more precise idea of how the automobile market of tomorrow will evolve.
